What is HSE and what is its use?
If we consider the daily work activity to be eight hours, one-third of every adult’s life will be spent at work. The environment where we work must provide conditions for physical and mental health; health is an issue that is important for humans in order to live a better life.
Every work environment has its own specific conditions depending on the activities carried out in it. Safety of tools and equipment, psychological conditions, health of the workplace, etc. are the indicators that HSE addresses.
HSE is currently a popular academic discipline that is offered at the undergraduate and graduate levels in a large number of universities in the country, and on the other hand, it must be established as a requirement in all industrial and mining centers to maintain the safety and health of personnel and protect the environment.
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) is a vital aspect of any industry or organization. It includes the procedures, policies and guidelines that are implemented to ensure the well-being of employees, the community and the environment. HSE is not just about complying with regulations and standards, but also about creating a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within an organization.
The application of HSE is wide-ranging and can be seen in various industries such as oil and gas, construction, manufacturing, healthcare, etc. Its principles are designed to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental damage by identifying and mitigating potential hazards.

The management system that studies the above factors and produces results for establishing a healthy working environment is called HSE. As you know, the title of this system refers to the English words equivalent to health, safety and environment.
If you look at the calendar, you will see that April 28 (8 Ordibehesht) is dedicated to occupational health and safety every year. This shows that health in the workplace is a concern. International organizations such as the International Labor Organization (ILO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and … reflect the importance of occupational health.
Over time, and after a doctor named Ramazzini asked about his patients’ occupational health while examining them, the issue of occupational health also progressed. Today, HSE guidelines are set to observe the health, occupational safety of employees and the environment. Implementing this management system requires sufficient expertise. For this reason, people educated in the field of safety, occupational health and HSE who take practical training courses related to HSE and occupational safety can play a useful and effective role as safety and HSE personnel in projects.
